#Asus mac address change mac#
The workaround is to use the MAC Address Clone feature of the firmware of your choosing going forward for the remainder of the life of your router. The good news is that there is a simple way to work around this problem. The MAC Address can sometimes be fixed in certain models (think TELNET), and in some models it cannot. Unfortunately, once it is gone, it is gone, and no amount of firmware flashing will simply fix it and resurrect it from the dead, even if you go back to the stock firmware. Usually this issue is corrected in newer versions of 3RD party firmware and the MAC is not cleared when a reset is initiated. Think of the MAC Address in your router as a "setting" that under normal circumstances can't be touched, it is not burnt into ROM anywhere. Usually what happens is a "Factory Reset" is initiated at some point with the 3RD party firmware (usually very early versions) and the firmware doesn't know any better and it clears the MAC Address out. Sometimes when "experimenting" with 3RD party firmware code, such as DD-WRT, the MAC Address that is in NVRAM gets erased. You should do the same for the wireless MAC if it is 00's as well. In DD-WRT settings, click MAC Address Clone, choose Enable then for the WAN MAC you should enter the appropriate MAC Address that is printed on the bottom of the router (or a MAC address of your choosing). Try to use ASUS Firmware Restoration version 2.0.0.0 hopefuly the problem will be solved.Īsbhn, while this may not exactly be the solution you are seeking, I am sure it is a solution that will fix your problem. I have tryed the last build and i didn't face your problem with the bootloop, but i am facing the MAC address it resaulted in showing me 000.000.000.000.1 so i am facing this problem.
I can't find any reasonably working build.
Have you tried to use the newest build (03-28-2016-r29362)? For me it resulted in a bootloop.
